Grolier Online:  World War II Commemoration – this site is sponsored by Grolier Interative and offers a comprehensive collection of historical information about World War II 

World War II:  The Homefront – this site is sponsored by Thinkquest.  Thinkquest was developed by the Oracle Educational Foundation as an outlet for students to develop educational websites in a competitive fashion.  Winning websites are part of the Thinkquest Library.  This particular site is very well designed and user friendly.

World War II by Microsoft Encarta - this site, maintained by Microsoft gives an organized account of World War II chronologically including events that led to the 2^nd world war.  There are however, advertisements imbedded into each page.
