A Brief History of Korea Despite the title, Korea's history has been anything but brief. Korea's long and very rich history has been marked by dynasties, invasions and occupations. This timeline is very helpful and you will be able to place each Asian novel you read in its respective place in history. A Single Shard took place in 12th Century Korea. Look carefully at the Koryo (918 - 1392) Dynasty.
